Motor Insurance
Comprehensive or third party cover for cars and bikes in the Maldives.

Drive with Confidence
Motor Insurance provides protection for you, your vehicle, and others on the road. With options for comprehensive or third-party only cover, it includes accident damage, liability protection, natural perils, and additional benefits such as towing and windscreen cover for complete confidence on every drive.
Types of cover
Motor Third Party
The minimum the law requires. Compulsory cover for every vehicle on Maldivian roads. It protects them. It does nothing for your own vehicle.
Motor Comprehensive
Third party pays them. This pays you too. Comprehensive motor cover for cars and bikes in the Maldives.

Common questions
- Is motor insurance compulsory in the Maldives?
- Yes. Third party motor insurance is the minimum the law requires for every vehicle on Maldivian roads. It pays other people for injury or damage you cause. It pays nothing for your own vehicle; for that you need comprehensive cover.
- What is the difference between third party and comprehensive motor insurance?
- Third party pays the other person. Comprehensive pays you too: accident damage to your own vehicle, fire, theft and malicious damage, and windscreen repairs without losing your no claim bonus. Both cover death or injury to other people up to MVR 60,000 and damage to their property up to MVR 40,000.
- What do I need to get a motor insurance quote?
- For third party cover, a copy of the vehicle registry and a copy of your ID card. For comprehensive cover, the same two plus the vehicle’s value and pictures of the vehicle. Seguro prices third party and comprehensive side by side, in rufiyaa, so you see the difference before you decide.
