A fire policy with no business interruption cover leaves the worst part uninsured.
Four months closed is four months unpaid. And the rebuild is only half the bill. Ask us to price the downtime alongside the property.
Three things that decide your claim.
- An excess applies to every loss, and natural perils carry the highest
- Warranties kill more fire claims than exclusions do
- Under-declare your values, and condition of average cuts the payout

Common questions
- What does a commercial fire policy cover?
- A basic fire policy covers fire, lightning and domestic explosion to your buildings, furniture, stock and machinery. Extended to additional perils, it also covers storm, flood, riot and strike, malicious damage, impact, burst pipes, and earthquake, tsunami and cyclone. Theft by forcible entry can be added as an option.
- Does fire insurance cover the business being closed after a fire?
- Not on its own. A fire policy pays to rebuild and replace; the months of lost income while you are closed need business interruption cover. Seguro prices the downtime alongside the property so the worst part of a fire is not left uninsured.
- Why would a fire claim be reduced?
- Three reasons decide most claims: an excess applies to every loss, and natural perils carry the highest; a breached warranty can void the claim; and if you under-declare your values, condition of average cuts the payout in proportion.
